De Kinoptikon was een 35mm speelgoedprojector dat door de firma Ernemann geproduceerd werd vanaf 1914. In tegenstelling tot de Kinox modellen was de Kinoptikon dus niet geschikt voor projecties op scholen.
De Kinoptikon maakt gebruik van het slagsysteem om de film door de projector te laten lopen. De vlinder bevindt zich tussen het lamphuis en de lens.
Er zijn twee verschillende modellen op de markt gekomen van de Kinoptikon. Er was een model met een gewone toverlantaarn als lichtbron en er was een model met een tonvormig lamphuis (= dit model). Het voorstuk bleef wel identiek.

The Kinoptikon uses a beater system to get the film through the projector. The shutter wheel is located between the lantern and lens.
There were two different models on the market of the Kinoptikon. There was a model with a normal magic lantern as a light source, and there was a model with a barrel-shaped lamphouse (= this model). The projector mechanism remained the same.
De projector is in goede werkende staat. Als lamp zit er een stevige spotlamp op 220V in en dit geeft een vrij helder beeld.
Bij de projector zaten zes extra filmspoelen elk met een 35mm. De films lijken uit de periode 1930 - 1930 te stammen (o.a. Rapunzel)

The projector came along with six reels of 35mm movies. Most films seem to date from the period 1920-1930 (including Rapunzel).
