De filoscope is een speeltje uit omstreeks 1900 dat gebaseerd is op het flipboek principe. Door een reeks foto's zeer snel achter elkaar te bekijken ontstaat er een bewegend beeld. De filoscope verkeert in goede staat en kwam in zijn originele doosje wat redelijk zeldzaam is. Het doosje vertoont wel wat slijtage.
De filoscope werd gepatenteerd in 1898 door de Engelsman Henry William Short en werd uitgegeven door de British Mutoscope & Biograph company.

Therefore he was one of the pioneers of the first movie projections in Britain. He also appeared in several movies where he performed some 'magic tricks', based on the special effects techniques of George Méliès.
